Location: Meet at the American Mountaineering Museum 710 10th St, Golden, CO 80401 Background: Volunteers will perform light maintenance work on the west trails on South Table Mountain. We will walk from The American Mountaineering Museum to the work site. We'll use a variety of tools to improve water drainage while also doing vegetation management and trash pickup along the way. Family members are welcome to join; however, each individual must register separately. What to bring & wear: • Project waiver: All volunteers need to sign a waiver. If you registered online, you filled out a waiver electronically. • Closed-toe, sturdy shoes are required (no sandals). • Pants, sunglasses, and hat recommended. • Work gloves (if you have them). • Work clothes that can get dirty. • Water bottles (totaling at least 1 liter). • Rain gear and appropriate layers for the forecasted weather. • Sunscreen. • Essential medications like epi-pens & inhalers. • Backpack (day pack). • NO PETS ALLOWED. Requirements: Be able to hike and use a variety of tools, including shovels, picks, and rakes. Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Be prepared for numerous and changing environmental condition. Inclement Weather: Jefferson County Open Space projects are rarely canceled due to weather. If you need to cancel: Jefferson County Open Space is counting on you for this project. We will be bringing tools and staff to the project site, so knowing our numbers is important.
