Volunteers will meet here: 7500 W. 29th Ave Volunteers are encouraged to use alternative transportation to attend the project. Participants will be working along a 19.5 mile stretch of the Peaks to Plains Trail along Clear Creek along with other tributaries. Past efforts have resulted in the collection of 38,870 pounds of trash. Mismanaged trash that escapes into waterways can create a wide range of problems. Aquatic trash affects water quality, endangers plants and animals, and pollutes the outdoor spaces that we depend on for tourism and recreation. Volunteers will help planting shrubs and perennials. Trends toward increased visitation, changing climate conditions, and the spread of invasive species are challenges that public land managers are facing throughout the country. Your volunteer time is essential to helping preserve our natural areas for water quality, wildlife habitat, and recreation, now, and into the future. Join us for a day of conservation work along Clear Creek and a celebration of National Public Lands Day. Thank you for Volunteering! Volunteers will be treated to live music, free food from a handful of food trucks and beer for individuals 21 years of age and older. REQUIREMENTS: Be in good physical condition Be able to use a variety of tools, including shovels, picks and rakes Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian Be prepared for numerous and changing environmental conditions WHAT TO BRING & WEAR: Closed-toe, sturdy shoes are required No open-toed shoes or sandals of any kind will be allowed Work gloves Plenty of water (2 quarts minimum) Rain gear Snacks Sunscreen and insect repellent A day pack
