Participant Opportunities

Volunteers will clean trash, recyclables, and debris from the park. Trash affects water quality, endangers plants and animals, and pollutes the outdoor spaces we depend on for tourism and recreation. Volunteers will also remove invasive weeds and seed disturbed areas. Directions to Project Site: Please meet at the Jeffco Open Space headquarters, at 700 Jefferson Parkway, #100, Golden, CO. Adam will shuttle everyone to the work site, since parking is limited. If you are running late, you can meet us at the Windy Saddle Parking lot: https://goo.gl/maps/mCyrtbAY5cyqMw4YA Please coordinate carpooling, as parking is very limited in this area. What to bring & wear: • Project waiver: All volunteers need to sign a waiver. If you register online, then you will sign an electronic waiver. • Closed-toe, sturdy shoes are required. • Pants, sunglasses, and hat recommended. • Work gloves (if you have them). • Work clothes that can get dirty. • Water bottles (totaling at least 2 liters). • Snacks. • Rain gear and appropriate layers for the forecasted weather. • Sunscreen, personal items, medications like inhalers and Epi-pens, etc. • Backpack (day pack). • NO PETS ALLOWED Requirements: Be able to hike and use a variety of hand tools. Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Be prepared for numerous and changing environmental conditions Inclement Weather: Jefferson County Open Space projects are rarely canceled due to weather. Adam Arata ([email protected], 720.737.5930) will be available for guidance should severe weather be in the forecast. If you need to cancel: Jefferson County Open Space is counting on your group for this project. We will be bringing tools and staff to the project site, so knowing our numbers is important. If your group is unable to volunteer, or if you anticipate a significant change in the number of volunteers that will participate, please contact Adam.
