Volunteers will meet in the main Van Bibber Park lot just off of Ward Rd.. FYI You cannot make a left hand turn into the Van Bibber lot if you are traveling north on Ward Rd.. Volunteers are encouraged to use alternative transportation to attend the project. Volunteers will be assisting the Natural Resources team in the removal of noxious weeds, noxious weed flowering stalks, seeding areas of disturbance with native seed, and planting native wetland forbs to enhance pollinator habitat at Van Bibber Park. This is part of an effort to work along a 19.5 mile stretch along the Clear Creek along with other tributaries. Past efforts have resulted in the collection of 42,000 pounds of trash. Mismanaged trash that escapes into waterways can create a wide range of problems. Aquatic trash affects water quality, endangers plants and animals, and pollutes the outdoor spaces that we depend on for tourism and recreation. Be sure to join us for our post project celebration at Clear Creek Valley Park in Arvada https://maps.app.goo.gl/nxTEzyp9FUVi4MWp8. Volunteers will be treated to live music, free food from a handful of food trucks and beer for individuals 21 years of age and older. Volunteers arriving on foot or bike will receive an extra raffle ticket for a chance to win amazing prizes.
