Participant Opportunities

Volunteers will meet at Boat Ramp Lot & Overflow in Bear Creek lake Park https://maps.app.goo.gl/RoN7gHA3hBgjGFSS9 Volunteers are encouraged to use alternative transportation to attend the project. Volunteers will work to Increase the sustainability and accessibility of ~ 0.5 miles on Fisherman’s/Carbon Loop trail West of the boat ramp along Bear Creek by widening and adding material to raise and crown the trail. Participants will plant native sedges, rushes, grasses and forbs to mitigate flooding that has damaged native vegetation. Hand tools, pickers, garbage bags and wheelbarrows will be provided. This is part of an effort to work along a 19.5 mile stretch along the Clear Creek along with other tributaries. Past efforts have resulted in the collection of 48,000 pounds of trash. Mismanaged trash that escapes into waterways can create a wide range of problems. Aquatic trash affects water quality, endangers plants and animals, and pollutes the outdoor spaces that we depend on for tourism and recreation. Be sure to join us for our post project celebration at Bear Creek Lake Park for our after-project celebration https://maps.app.goo.gl/pHFGmLyRBsfMJJNy6. Volunteers will be treated to live music, free food from a handful of food trucks and beer for individuals 21 years of age and older. Volunteers arriving on foot or bike will receive an extra raffle ticket for a chance to win amazing prizes.
