LOCATION: Van Bibber Ward Road Trailhead, 5575 Ward Road, Arvada, CO 80002 https://maps.app.goo.gl/R9UptuA1CPUuhqJi9 BACKGROUND: Join Trail Runner Volunteers and Runners for Public Lands for restoration work and light maintenance at Van Bibber Park. We will use plants and natural materials to close unauthorized social trails and encourage visitors to use designated trails. We’ll also do light maintenance to improve drainage on the trails. PARTICIPANTS: This activity involves hiking and using common tools like shovels. Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. As this is an outdoor activity, please dress in appropriate layers for the weather. WHAT TO BRING & WEAR: Closed-toed shoes are required (no sandals) Long pants and a hat are recommended Your own snacks you may need Work gloves if you have them (we will have extras as well) Water Rain gear Sunscreen, insect repellent, any required medications A day pack (to hold all of the above) Jefferson County Open Space is counting on your help for this project. We will be bringing tools and staff to the project site, so knowing our numbers is important. If you are unable to volunteer, please cancel your registration to allow someone else a chance to sign-up for the project. Given the variability in weather during the winter months, there is always a risk of trail work being canceled/rescheduled. Staff will evaluate conditions and the forecast and will email if the project cannot take place.
