Volunteer Opportunities

* This activity is for volunteers who have undergone training/background checks. You must have approval from staff to sign up. * Volunteers will be watering trees, shrubs, and flowers that have been planted in our urban parks. Volunteers will perform light weeding around these plants to prevent competition. Approved volunteers will be given an access code to the maintenance closet to retrieve water packs/cans. Water tanks are on-site. This is a flexible schedule. You may come any time during the day to water at your convince. Be sure to edit your hours if you volunteered longer. Coordination with other volunteers participating is essential. Please park at Crown Hill Park here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/VTNbySgBjuuo1thz6 REQUIREMENTS: Be in good physical condition Be able to carry 20-40lb water backpack OR 10-15lb watering cans Be prepared for numerous and changing environmental conditions Knowledge of the location of plants Approval from staff WHAT TO BRING & WEAR: Closed-toe, sturdy shoes are required. No open-toed shoes or sandals of any kind will be allowed. Work gloves Plenty of water (2 quarts minimum) Rain gear Sunscreen and insect repellent A day pack Pruners or a weeding tool of your choice.
