Seed Collection at Alderfer / Three Sisters Park  - Alderfer Park: East Trailhead (ALD-E)

We will be collecting nodding brome (Bromus porteri) on September 17th from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Alderfer / Three Sisters Park. We will meet at the east trailhead at 9:00 a.m. and will pile into a van to get closer to the collection site. Nodding brome is a perennial bunchgrass that thrives in open forests but is also found in meadows, grasslands, and shrublands. Deer and elk utilize nodding brome as a food source. We utilize native bromes for many restoration projects and are planning to either use this seed in forestry units or do a seed increase with it. Didn’t know we had native bromes? This will be a great opportunity to learn about native vs. non-native bromes and how to tell them apart.
