Volunteers will be performing restoration work and will be removing invasive weeds: Thistles and Mullein. Volunteers will cut and bag the seed heads and cut the stalks at the base. This will prevent noxious weeds from spreading and displacing native plant species, helping keep this ecosystem intact and resilient. If you are under 18, a guardian must also sign the waiver. If you register online, then you will sign an electronic waiver. • Closed-toe, sturdy shoes are required. • Pants, sunglasses, and hat recommended. • Work gloves (if you have them). • Work clothes that can get dirty. • Water bottles (totaling at least 2 liters). • Snacks. • Rain gear and appropriate layers for the forecasted weather. • Sunscreen, personal items, medications like inhalers and Epi-pens, etc. • Backpack (day pack). • NO PETS ALLOWED Jefferson County Parks & Open Space is counting on you for this project. We will be bringing tools, gloves, and staff to the project site, so knowing our numbers is important. If you are unable to volunteer, please cancel your sign-up so that others may participate. Jefferson County Parks & Open Space projects are rarely canceled due to weather.
