Colorado Day At South Valley Park  - South Valley Park: North Trailhead (SVP-N)

BACKGROUND: Join us to celebrate the 149th anniversary of Colorado's statehood at the natural wonder of South Valley Park. Help us keep Colorado beautiful by removing invasive weeds and promoting the growth of our native plants. Breakfast and lunch will be provided, and there will be a raffle held after lunch. PARKING: Volunteers will meet and park at North South Valley Park here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/5Z23KQxoTssDEESs6 Please be aware that there are two parking lots at South Valley. We will be at the NORTH lot. Please carpool or take alternative transportation to the project. REQUIREMENTS: Be able to hike and use tools such as hand-pruners and shovels. Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Be prepared for numerous and changing environmental conditions. WHAT TO BRING & WEAR: Project waiver: All volunteers need to sign a waiver. If you register online, then you will sign it electronically. Paper copies will also be available at the work site. Closed-toe, sturdy shoes are required (no sandals). Work gloves (if you have them). Plenty of water (2 quarts minimum). Rain gear and appropriate layers for the forecasted weather. Snacks. Necessary medications like Epi-Pens, inhalers, etc. Sunscreen and insect repellent. A day pack. NO PETS ALLOWED. If you need to cancel: Jefferson County Open Space is counting on your help for this project. If you are unable to volunteer, please cancel your registration to allow other volunteers to fill your spot. Weather: We will be completing this project, even if it snows or rains. Please be prepared to work in any weather. If you see the forecast ahead of time, and decide you do not want to work in inclement weather, please cancel your registration to allow other volunteers to sign up.
